Dennie Kuppinger

  • Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (North Carolina)

  • Licensed Professional Counselor (South Carolina)

  • Licensed Addiction Counselor

In the early 1970s, Dennie Kuppinger became one of the youngest postmasters in the country. Her Fourth Class post office was inside a general store in Colorado where she added organic food products and European delicacies to the regular staples of bread, milk, and fishing worms for the locals. This became a hub for skiers, hikers, and young travelers, first stopping by for granola but staying to talk about their problems. “I really didn’t have any answers and felt helpless; all I could do was listen. For that matter, I didn’t have any answers for myself!”

In 1974, Dennie began her own journey of recovery. Since her interest in helping others didn’t wane, she set out to earn a master’s degree in Addiction Counseling in 1978, from one of the first graduate programs in the country addressing addiction. Today she is a licensed professional counselor in North Carolina (LCMHC) and South Carolina (LPC) as well as a licensed addiction counselor (LAC).

For over 40 years, Dennie worked in multiple treatment facilities in the Midwest and the Carolinas. She also worked with companies as an employee assistance professional serving Fortune 500 companies worldwide before launching EAP of the Carolinas.

Since moving to Greenville, South Carolina, she continues to work  on the front line with families and their loved ones as they face the ravages of addiction. She says, “Nothing is brighter or more gratifying than to see a family restored and their loved one come back to life.  This is what a life worth living is all about.”

If you share authentically and honestly, you can’t even hear a pin drop. That is how powerful honest communication is — less is more.  No more arguing, threatening, berating, shaming, screaming, crying, or acting irrationally yourself.

Speak your true feelings from your heart. Keep it simple and let go of the outcome — responding rather than reacting.
